OPI Muppet Collection "Designer...de Better!" Review

OPI Designer de Better is describe as "And this light metallic bronze is ready for the runway" by O.P.I.

Designer...de Better! is a silver foil with specks of bronze throughout.

I found the formula to be very thin and need 4 coats for it to be opaque. I often find that with foil polish, brush strokes as almost always visible. Designer...de Better!, was no exception. After 3 coats there was slight improvement but brush strokes could still be seen under strong light. The drying time on this polish was great,  it took no time to dry in between coats. The finish is glossy and has the look of brushed metal. I added a top coat for added protection as I found the polish chipped very easily without it. This finished products offer a subtle yet interesting look that is definitely work appropriate and can carry through all seasons.

OPI Serena Williams Glam Slam Collection "Rally Pretty Pink"

OPI Rally Pretty Pink is a rosy pink base mixed with pink and gold foil micro-glitter.

When I first saw this colour, my  reaction was "shit, more gold" but upon closer inspection I was able to see the pink/rose toned glitter that really makes this colour unique.

The great thing about this polish is it can look completely different depending on the light and viewing angle. Depending on the light, this color can be seen as a rich rose gold or a beautiful mauve gold colour. When I first wore this colour,  friends mistook it for Rosy Dawn and Warm & Fozzie.

OPI Miss Universe Collection "Swimsuit...Nailed It!" Review

OPI Miss Universe Collection Swimsuit....Nailed It! is described as  "An itsy bits teenie weenie vibrant shiny-blue bikini" by O.P.I.

Swimsuit...Nailed It! is a fantastic jewel toned metallic blue. This colour has depth, shimmer and gets noticed when worn. I love it!

This colour goes on well with great opacity after 2 coats. I still used 3 coats just out of habit. Even after applying the first coat of polish, I found little to no bald spots, no streaking and couldn't see any brush strokes. Great formula. The shimmer is so apparent that I didn't need to use a top coat for added shine.

OPI "Dim Sum Plum" Review

"Dim Sum Plum"
OPI Dim Sum Plum is described as "A berry delectable delicacy" by O.P.I.

Dim Sum Plum is a pink/plum cream colour from OPI's Hong Kong Collection.

I bought this colour as part of a two-pack that included Drip Drop. It's not usually a colour I would normally buy, but I really wanted Drip Drop. Normally, I do tend to stay away from creme finish preferring metallic, holo or glitter. (Seriously, I should be married to mobster and living in NJ, I love bling).

I found the formula to be kind of on the thick side. This could become a problem later on but that's nothing some polish thinner can't fix. Due to it's thickness,  I would suggest waiting at least 1-2 minutes between coats. (Maybe that's why it came with Drip Drops. light bulb.)  The good thing about the thick formula is that even a habitual 3 coater like myself is satisfied with opacity after 2 coats. The formula goes on well with no streaking or bald spots and dries to such a glossy finish that I didn't need a top coat. Even without a protective top coat, I found I had little to no tip wear even after several days.

New Polish!

Today I found:
Katy Perry Mini's!!!
"The One That Got Away"
"Teenage Dream"
"Last Friday Night"
"Not Like The Movies"

I've been searching forever for any full size bottles from the Katy Perry line and haven't been able to find anything. Yes, I know they came out last year but I'm hoping to get lucky. So when  I saw this at the drug store marked down from $17.99CAD to $8.99CAD, I grabbed it. Now I'm thinking I should have grabbed two...
I'm super excited to try out these colours. Reviews to come in the new few days.

Sephora by OPI "Mermaid To Order" Review

Sephora By OPI "Mermaid To Order"
Sephora by OPI "Mermaid To Order" is describe as " opaque metallic turquoise green".

Mermaid to Order is a beautiful metallic turquoise. It almost reminds of car paint because of it's glossy metallic finish when dry.

OPI is my go to brand (just in case you couldn't tell) but I thought I would try and branch out a little tiny bit by buying Sephora by OPI. I was really surprised to find out that Sephora By OPI cost almost $3.00 more then just regular OPI polish. I paid almost $12.00CAD for the bottle, where most of the OPI polish, I buy tend to be in the $9.00CAD range.

The first thing I notice is that the brush is much smaller then I'm used to. I'm still not sure if I like it or not. It does make doing my freakish small nails slightly easier but it does take a little longer to paint with.

Storage

I just caught myself "googling" nail polish storage system.
There's some pretty good ideas out there. At the moment, I'm using a stand up plastic drawer system on wheels. A "ghetto Helmer" if you will. It works but I want something "prettier" with individual spaces for the bottles to stand. The shopaholic in me, is thinking I'll need to get something custom made, ( judge!) since I can't seem to find anything suitable. Any thoughts or tips?

OPI Muppet Collection "Warm & Fozzie" Review

Warm & Fozzie is describe as "A feel-good shade of metallic copper" by O.P.I.
Warm & Fozzie is a great colour, there are flecks of rose toned copper, bronze and gold. This colour is tough  to describe, you really need to see it in person  to to appreciate it.

Warm & Fozzie went on easily and evenly with little to no streaks and bald spots. The finish was glossy and the reflectiveness of the metallic made a top coat unnecessary.

What I really like about this colour is that it's an interesting work appropriate colour. I wore this colour to work for 3 days and was not bored once. I love the way the light picks up the all the different colours.

OPI Navy Shatter

Navy Shatter is described as a "dark navy blue top coat that's similar to black shatter with a bit more of an edge". by O.P.I.

I know most people are getting over the shatter trend but I still love that it's a quick and easy solution to make a manicure more interesting.

I bought this shatter and 3 others for 25% at a local salon. I've learned from reading some of the other polish  blogs to try and look for a thinner formula when buying shatter. Advice well worth taking.

When looking at the bottle, I was a little hesitant due to it looking almost black. Once out of the bottle however, it's evident that it is navy. I applied the polish starting at the corner of my nail and moved inward rather then the usual method of starting in the centre and moving outward. I find this way offers a more even shatter. I applied the shatter over Sephora by OPI's "Mermaid to Order" (review to come later), I also applied a clear top coat to take the finish from matte to glossy, which I prefer.

Out of all the shatters I've tried I found this one to shatter the best and quickest (shattering beginning almost immediately when applied).
